TOPIC: TRUST AND HOPE IN NO MAN EXCEPT GOD
Memory verse:-"When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream: He was standing by the Nile,
when out of the river there came up seven cows, sleek and fat, and they grazed among
the reeds. After them, seven other cows, ugly and gaunt, came up out of the Nile and
stood beside those on the riverbank. And the cows that were ugly and gaunt ate up the
seven sleek, fat cows. Then Pharaoh woke up.
He fell asleep again and had a second dream: Seven heads of grain, healthy and good,
were growing on a single stalk. After them, seven other heads of grain sprouted - thin
and scorched by the east wind. The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy,
full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up; it had been a dream”.
Joseph might have thought that his days in the prison were over since his interpretation to the dreams of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker had come true. But as we are told in the passage the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph. It is best to trust in the Lord than to trust human beings. If the cupbearer was Joseph’s only hope in life then he would have fooled himself because he would have spent al his days and died in the prison. But the Lord God who made the chief cupbearer free from prison and death and gave interpretation to the dreams was the same Lord who made the Pharaoh had a dream and made Joseph interpreted it.
There is time for everything; a time came for the cupbearer to be re-employed in the king’s palace and when it was Joseph’s time he was released and promoted. This Lord God works with time and when your time is due He will never bypass you, that is what we ought to keep in mind. God is our hope of glory and for life in Him there is no deception unlike humanity.
