NOVEMBER 20

TOPIC: YOU ARE NOT THE FINAL JUDGE

Memory verse:-"When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father’s household gods.
Moreover, Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him he was running away.
So he fled with all he had, and crossing the River, he headed for the hill country of
                     Gilead.

On the third day Laban was told that Jacob had fled. Taking his relatives with him, he
pursued Jacob for seven days and caught up with him in the hill country of Gilead.
Then God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him, "Be careful
not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”

Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country of Gilead when Laban overtook him, and
Laban and his relatives camped there too. Then Laban said to Jacob, "What have you
done? You’ve deceived me, and you’ve carried off my daughters like captives in war.
Why did you run off secretly and deceive me? Why didn’t you tell me, so I could send
you away with joy and singing to the music of tambourines and harps? You didn’t even
let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters good-by. You have done a foolish thing.
I have the power to harm you; but last night the God of your father said to me,
‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’ Now you have gone off
because you longed to return to your father’s house. But why did you steal my gods?”
                                                                                                                               -Gen.31:19-30

It is obvious that Jacob is seen as a deceiver as his name was, yet in all that he does God was with him. it does not mean that God condone deception or evil, not at all! But God has, in His infinite mercy and love, chosen not to deal with humanity according to every bit of word or action that we do. If not so then no human being could have lasted a minute in this world. Thus in seconds (not even to talk of minutes let alone hours) the evil that we think and do are more than enough to kill us.

God by the reason of His mercies and love pardon Jacob deception (weakness) and gave him protection, favor and success in all that he did. It is only by these elements of mercy and love of God that we are all not destroyed.

The strange thing is that people around us are busy of criticizing and judging, even sometimes we find ourselves in that arena as if we do not sin or we are holier than everybody. If Jacob were to be alive we would have judged him to hell for his deceptions but we have to notice that it is God alone who is the final judge. Judgment and condemnation is not in the hands of any man not even a law court judge. When a court of law judge and condemn a person to prison there is hope for the prisoner because that is not the end of the road. The end comes when God judge or condemn the prisoner to hell. Men will judge or condemn you but look to God because He is the final judge.

Prayer:-pray for all prisoners as the Spirit of God lead you
pray against human judgment and condemnation

What to meditate on:
What is mercy and love from biblical perspective?
