TOPIC: CREATURES ARE NOT GOD
Memory verse:-"Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up
as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. He called that place Bethel , though the city used to
be called Luz.
Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this
journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return
safely to my father’s house, then the Lord will be my God and this stone that I have set
up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.”
There has been a misconception about what Jacob did; the stone he poured oil on has nothing to do with God’s nature or supremacy. The stone was used as a pillar and a reference of God’s appearance to him in a dream. It does not mean that God lived in the stone or it was representative of God Himself or His presence. The creature (stone or anything else) cannot be the creator, people mistakenly used this scripture to worship things but know that God is far greater than his creation. Idol worship is abominable to God, only Jesus is the way to the father God and the only mediator between God and man.
Prayer:-pray against any known and unknown idol in your life and dedicate yourself again to God
What to mediate on:
If gods/idols are mediators between God and man then what is the position of Jesus in our life?
