OCTOBER 17

TOPIC: HOPE IS A RECIPE OF PRAYER

Memory verse:-"The servant hurried to meet her and said, "Please give me a little water from your
jar.” "Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and
gave him a drink. After she had given him a drink, she said, "I’ll draw water for
your camels too, until they have finished drinking.” So she quickly emptied her
jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for
all his camels. Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn
whether or not the Lord had made his journey successful. When the camels had
finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two
gold bracelets weighing ten shekels. Then he asked, "Whose daughter are you?
ease tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night?”

She answered him, "I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son that Milcah bore to
Nahor.” And she added, "We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room
for you to spend the night.” Then the man bowed down and worshiped the
Lord, saying, "Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has
not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord
has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives.”
                                                                                                                      -Gen. 24:17-27

Abraham’s servant did not just pray; he backed his prayer by actions so he hurried to meet Rebecca. We Christians ought to note this point very well, when we pray for something like a job or marriage we need not to sit at home thinking that the job or marriage will automatically come and knock at our door. The prayer takes care of all spiritual hindrances concerning what we pray for and our services and actions take care of all physical things concerning that same thing we have been praying for. Prayer does not work automatically it ought to be backed by actions.

Without seeing the parents of Rebecca the servant became hopeful that his journey has become successful. He was hopeful that Rebecca was the woman sent by God because of the signs displayed by her. Hope is a recipe of prayer and we Christians ought to be hopeful that the God that we serve is the hope that never shames us. Sometimes we may not see positive signs about what we have been praying for yet we have to be mindful that all things work for our good.

Prayer:-pray that God will direct your path and bring you success in all that you do
pray and thank God so much for good things he is about to do in your life

What to meditate on:
What is the best action to be done after prayer?
