OCTOBER 22

TOPIC: WORK ON YOUR PROMISE AND INQUIRE OF THE LORD

Memory verse:-"This is the account of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac, and
Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebecca daughter of Bethuel the Aramean
from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean. Isaac prayed to the Lord on
behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife
Rebekah became pregnant. The babies jostled each other within her, and she said,
"Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. The Lord said to
her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be
separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the
                      younger.”
                                                                                                                                 -Gen 25:19-23

Looking at who Isaac was, a son of covenant through whom the world was to be populated for Abraham to become a father of nations, he should not have reached the age of forty before he could father a child. It is believed that he thought probably the promises of God are automatic, so Rebecca would be pregnant at all cost. He did not know that when God make a promise man ought to work on the promise. In the course of time, Isaac recognized that there must be a work done on the promise, he then prayed (worked on the promise) to God.

Christians ought to note very well that God’s promises are not magical or automatic there is always a work that ought to be done on them. Some of them need special directions and others also need intensive prayers.

Rebecca was so wise to consult God when the babies jostled within her. She should have probably visited a physician but she sought God. it is not a sin or a mistake to visit a Doctor when things go wrong in your body but always let God be first. Pray to God concerning your problem before you see a Doctor.

Prayer:-pray concerning what God have said about you
pray for direction needed for you to walk on the right path of your destiny

What to meditate on:
Who is a Doctor to you and how do you approach sickness?
