TOPIC: ABRAM GAVE TITHE TO MELCHIZEDEK
Memory verse:-"After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the
king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God
Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying,"Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your
enemies into your hand. ”Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
In response of Melchizedek’s blessings to Abram, he gave him the tenth of the booty which he had received from the battle. As written in Keil and Delitzsch Biblical Commentary on the Old Testament, "…for the tenth was, according to the general custom, the offering presented to the Deity. Abram also acknowledged the God of Melchizedek as the true God…”
Giving of tithe was and is a practice that has become controversial in our time but the truth is that it is for our own good to acknowledge God the greater one with our tithe. The tithe was before the law, as such the law becoming obsolete does not make tithe obsolete.
Prayer:-pray for clear understanding of tithe and receiving all the blessings from tithing
