TOPIC: THE DEPTH OF A COVENANT
Memory verse:-"Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your
descendants after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and
your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you
shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the
covenant between me and you. For the generations to come every male among you
who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household
or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring. Whether
born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised.
My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. Any uncircumcised male,
who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has
broken my covenant.”
God also said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her
Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her.
I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come
from her.”
We see here that God’s covenant with Abraham was a generational one. It is certain that almost all covenants that mankind enter into affect their generations. This brings to bear the good and bad sides of every covenant, meaning generations are to benefit from a good covenant or suffer from a bad covenant that someone has entered into with or without that generation knowledge. Some people are blessed because of an old made covenant of someone closed to them and others are also suffering because of a covenant. It is also true that we ought to be very careful about family we married into or associate ourselves with because any intimacy can result into setback or progress. Covenant is very effective and can hugely determine a person’s destiny.
Prayer:-pray against any family covenant that is fighting against your progress in life
pray committing your work place, living place and school that any evil covenant that affects people working or living
there will never affect you.
What to meditate on:
1.Do you know of any family covenant and do you still see some of the effects of that covenant in your family currently?
2. What difference has Christianity brought to you?
