SEPTEMBER 29
TOPIC: BE HOSPITABLE TO ALL PEOPLE
Memory verse:-"The LORDappeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at
the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men
standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet
them and bowed low to the ground. He said, "If I have found favor in your eyes, my
lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all
wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can
be refreshed and then go on your way—now that you have come to your servant.”
"Very well,” they answered, "do as you say.” So Abraham hurried into the tent to
Sarah. "Quick,” he said, "get three seahs of fine flour and knead it and bake some
bread.” Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a
servant, who hurried to prepare it. He then brought some curds and milk and the
calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood
near them under a tree”
Obviously, Abraham did not know that the three men were divine. He saw it as his responsibility to treat them as his visitors. His faith dictated to him that he should "do good to all men” and in obedience he received news that no man could have told him. The treat he gave to these men can not be compared to the blessings and news he received from them. Doing good to others is not waste at all. Truly, the ungrateful character of some people in the world has made it difficult to do good to others but in obedience to our faith in Christ Jesus we ought to do it. It is a must for us to learn from Abraham because we do not know who will come in our way and it will be very bad to withhold a good treat from a divine person. Blessings most come through people and being hospital is a good way of commanding the blessings.
Prayer:-pray that God will help you to do good to others
pray and commit anyone who have paid you evil for the good that you have done to God that he will repent
What to meditate on:
In this wicked-world of today can we truly do good as Abram did?
