TOPIC: DO THE RIGHT THING AT THE RIGHT TIME
Memory verse:-"Abraham agreed to Ephron’s terms and weighed out for him the price he had named in
the hearing of the Hittites: four hundred shekels of silver, according to the weight
current among the merchants. So Ephron’s field in Machpelah near Mamre—both the
field and the cave in it, and all the trees within the borders of the field—was deeded to
Abraham as his property in the presence of all the Hittites who had come to the gate of
the city. Afterward Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave in the field of Machpelah
near Mamre (which is at Hebron) in the land of Canaan. So the field and the cave in it
were deeded to Abraham by the Hittites as a burial site”
                                                                                                                              -Gen. 23:16-20
Abraham could have taken the land without any financial commitment but he decided not to do that. He thought of doing the right thing, thus he procured the land through the accepted procedure at the time so that in future Ephron or any of his descendants can not reverse the decision of ‘given the land for free’. He made a financial commitment so that incase of any future trouble he can get something to show and prove that he is the owner of the land.
Most at times we ought to be careful about gifts we receive from others. Though they are not bad but they can bring future troubles if the right procedure is not followed. When we fail to do the right thing today there is no way we will run from it, tomorrow we will face it with our children. Do the right thing at the right time and you will save your self and children from trouble.
Prayer:-pray for the wisdom and knowledge to do the right thing all the time
What to meditate on:
